GERMAN STOCKINGS
02.20.2010

Michael just finished Celeste's Christmas present - and when they're this fabulous, they're worth the wait. Cookie A.'s German Stocking pattern features cables that wind down the calf and over the foot, and the intricate work is really shown off in hot pink! Although this Schaefer yarn was a one-of-a-kind color, the new Araucania Italia (a blend of Superwash Merino, Silk and Bamboo) is a great substitute for this pattern... and it even comes in a very hot pink.

ARAUCANIA LONCO
02.06.2010

Brook has been knitting up a lacy scarf out of the Araucania Lonco, a beautiful mercerized cotton. The yarn has just a bit of sheen and takes dye beautifully. It's perfect for a lace scarf or a light-weight sweater ideal for Santa Barbara. We've just received several new colors, each more vibrant than the last. At 440 yards per hank, there are lots of possibilities for spring even if you get just one.

KNITTING IN THE ROUND
01.27.2010

Knitting In The Round 2 Saturdays, February 6th and 20th, 10am-1pm Class Limit: 8 Fee: $55

These garments all have one thing in common - they were knitted in the round. This means there was little to no seaming when the knitting was through. This is a must-learn technique for knitters, not only for the ease in finishing, but because seams sometimes add bulk where you don't want it. This is a great technique that will come in handy for many future projects!

Nick just finished knitting his sweater - the fabulous orange stripes are knit in Alchemy Sanctuary Yarn, a hand-dyed blend of merino and silk. It looks fantastic on him!
